Ting iPhone 6 and 6 Plus Support Now Available

Ting announced today that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus will now be available for use on the Ting service. Given that Ting had its iPhone 5 and 5c clearance sale recently, this offering of the iPhone 6 was expected to come soon after.

While both iPhones don’t appear in Ting’s online phone shop, what they do offer is the ability to buy an unlocked iPhone 6 directly from the Apple store and then activating on Ting using one of their SIM cards.

How To Use Unlocked iPhone 6 on Ting

In order to use an iPhone 6 on Ting, you’ll first need to purchase one unlocked from the Apple Store. Currently, the iPhone 6 16GB model is priced at $649 (no-contract) and the iPhone 6 Plus 16GB model is priced at $749 (no-contract). Not exactly a frugal phone option but if that’s the way you roll then so be it. Personally, I’d go for the cheaper iPhone 5c and other Ting phones for sale.

When buying the iPhone be sure to select the “SIM-free” option under the “Unlocked and contract-free” section as shown in the picture below.

Next up, you’ll want to purchase a SIM card from Ting. This SIM card, once inserted into your iPhone is what will allow your unlocked phone to work on the Ting service. You’ll want to buy the Ting nano SIM C3 which is the card that is for usage with the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and Nexus 6.

I should note that the nano SIM C3 card is for use with Ting’s CDMA Sprint network and not it’s upcoming Ting GSM network service which is still in Beta service right now and yet to roll out to all customers. However, once the GSM does come available, there will be a different set of SIM cards for that network.

While the whole CDMA vs GSM network thing can be confusing, especially if you’re not familiar with the technical aspects of the different network types and how they operate, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Fortunately, Ting has a reputation for great customer service, unlike other services, so if you are unsure on anything you can just contact Ting and they should be able to help you out with any questions regarding unlocked phones and the different services offered.

The good news for Apple fans is that now we have Ting offering the full line of iPhone and iPad products on their service. In addition, with the roll out of their GSM offering, customers will have even more options available to them.
